Prime Minister Duško Marković and the representatives of the Association of Hospitality Professionals agreed today at the meeting that the announced unilateral opening of catering facilities in cities where their work is banned for epidemiological reasons should be postponed, and that the National Coordination Body should review the health, safety and economic effect of valid measures.
The meeting assessed that hopitality professionals have largely responsibly complied with the prescribed measures, and that catering facilities are not the primary cause of the increase in the number of people infected with coronavirus.
PM Marković pointed out that in the past eight months of dealing with the pandemic, the Government managed to ensure the functioning of the health system, regular and additional allocations for salaries and rewards to health workers, as well as all necessary preparations and medical equipment. In parallel, subsidies to the economy and employees exceeded EUR 50 million.
"Hospitality professionals are not the only ones who should bear the consequences in a situation in which the infection has not spread in catering facilities, but it has occurred through severe violations in other places, especially within religious gatherings and rituals," the Prime Minister said.
It was assessed that exept for the reactions from the Police Directorate, there was a lack of responsible and professional conduct of many other institutions, which have a legal obligation to sanction misdemeanors and crimes against public health.
"Unfortunately, the behaviour of certain representatives of the new parliamentary majority, church dignitaries and some health workers is also unacceptable and dangerous. The political leaders of the new government, together with a part of the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church, in addition to organizing religious and political gatherings, also created an atmosphere marred by non-compliance with the orders and measures of the National Coordination Body in the public, which directly endangered the health of citizens," the Prime Minister noted.
The meeting called on religious communities to suspend all religious gatherings and ceremonies.
Until the last moment of its technical mandate, the Government will show full readiness to continue subsidizing industries that suffer damage due to measures against the spread of coronavirus.
The meeting with the representatives of the association of hospitality professionals was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Milutin Simović, Minister of Finance Darko Radunović and Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulić and the representatives of the Public Health Institute Dragan Laušević and Senad Begić, Director of the Primary Health Care Centre Podgorica Nebojša Kavarić, President of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro Vlastimir Golubović and President of the Board of Tourism and Hospitality Industry of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro Ranko Jovović.
