Finance minister, Igor Lukšić PhD, met with the newly-appointed permanent UNDP representative and coordinator for UN system in Montenegro, Alexander Avanesov

Mr. Avanesov expressed his gratitude to Montenegrin Government, which during the previous period, expressed readiness to financially support project implementation regarding UNDP in Montenegro. Furthermore, Mr. Avanseov informed the Minister on UNDPs readiness and interest to offer expert support in developing local governments, particularly with regards to legal regulations, financial mechanism development, know how exchange and experiences and regionalization implementation, aimed at adjusting legal and institutional frames of local governments with the EU standards. Finance minister highlighted the importance of continuing cooperation in the existing program implementation, especially in the area of developing taxation and customs administration, accounting procedures, new legal regulation production that needs to be adjusted according to the EU standards coupled with budgeting models. He also familiarized Mr. Avenesov with recently adopted Political party law, suggesting cooperation in implementing this law.
