Minister of Finance met the Director of the Directorate of EUROSTAT, Pieter Everaers

In the meeting that was organized in view of the completion of the project Partnership in Statistics, the current condition of the statistical system in Montenegro and the measures that the Ministry of Finance and MONSTAT are to undertake for its improvement were discussed. Mr. Everaers pointed out that there is a potential in Montenegro for a good statistical system, however in the subsequent period transparency should be improved and coordination of entities included in the statistical system of Montenegro should be strengthened and statistical instruments recommended by EUROSTAT should be applied to a greater extent. Minister Lukšić proposed that the Government of Montenegro, together with MONSTAT and the European Commission Delegation in Montenegro should prepare an Action Plan and finalize the Strategy for Statistical System Development in Montenegro within the shortest period possible, for the purpose of harmonizing with statistical system of the European Union countries.
