Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets with Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States Mamberti
Montenegro and the Holy See have traditionally good relations, as confirmed by frequent top-level meetings, Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic said during his meeting with the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States Archbishop Dominique Mamberti.
Archbishop Mamberti has underlined that Montenegro enjoys the Holy See’s full support on its path to EU and NATO membership. The accession of the Western Balkans into the EU is the only way to ensure stability of the region, but also a necessary requirement for Europe’s safety and economic and political stability, Djukanovic and Mamberti have agreed.
The Vatican, Mamberti has said, wishes Montenegro a constant spiritual and material progress, as well as to continue following the path of complete harmony between religions and nations.
According to the Prime Minister, this visit, as well as the history of dynamic bilateral cooperation, is a compliment to Montenegro for its democratic development and multiethnic harmony.
Both sides have agreed to continue to promote bilateral cooperation through concrete projects in a variety of areas, including culture, education, healthcare and tourism.
