Statement of Mr. Boris Bušković, Deputy Finance Minister, at the Press Conference held on the occasion of launching the Project “Support to Customs Administartion“

This is a very important Project. The entire project budget is 1 million Euros, being implemented through three components. Project duration is 18 months, and we believe that all three project components will be successfully implemented. In my statement, I would focus on two components related to the harmonization of legislation with the EU regulations. The Ministry of Finance believes that this is a very important component and we both hope for the successful implementation of the European Union best practice based on the alignment and the competitiveness increase of Montenegro against other countries. When addressing harmonization of regulations, this primarily relates to the preparation of the new Law on Customs, and the new Law on Customs Service. After preparing these two key documents, being defined by the National Integration Programme and the Government’s Programme for 2009, we will focus on the development of subordinate legislation with the objective of further defining the operation of the customs services and increase their efficiency, and transparency ... “
