Representatives of the Ministries of Justice of Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia held in Podgorica a consultative meeting for an exchange of views on possible amendments to the Agreement on Extradition between Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia.

It has been stated that there is a common interest for both State Parties to amend the existing Agreement so as to provide for the possibility to extradite own nationals in respect of criminal offences of organised crime, corruption and terorism. The possibilities of granting the extradition in respect of other serious criminal offences in certain cases have been explored as well.

As soon as the Goverments of both State Parties have defined platforms for negotiations and for signing the Agreement on Extradition, Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia will enter into the official negotiations over the amendments to the Agreement on Extradition.
