Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System Vujica Lazovic meets with outgoing US Ambassador Roderick Moore

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System Prof Dr Vujica Lazovic had a farewell meeting with US Ambassador in Montenegro Roderick Moore on Wednesday.

Deputy Prime Minister Lazovic thanked Moore for the excellent cooperation and his great personal contribution in promoting the US-Montenegro bilateral relations. He also expressed appreciation for the constant US support to Montenegro and the confidence that it this support would continue into the future.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Ambassador Moore exchanged views on the current economic situation in Montenegro, with particular reference to the creation of a favorable environment for investment and development of the information society, as one of the prerequisites for a successful economic policy.

Ambassador Moore underlines that the United States would remain committed to Montenegro and continue to support its path towards full EU and NATO membership. According to him it is particularly important that Montenegro has demonstrated readiness to make difficult decisions and, in doing so, showed its full commitment to Euro-Atlantic integration.

Reference was also made to the development of economic ties between Montenegro and the United States, particularly the question of FDI growth. It this context, it was noted that, regardless of the crisis, Montenegro had achieved enviable results in the field of privatization and investment, but the presence of US investors, regrettably, still remained low.

The Deputy Prime Minister wished Ambassador Moore every success and happiness in his future career.
