Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr. Igor Lukšić, PhD., met with the members of the Economy, Finance and Budget Committee and the Audit Committee of the German Parliament

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the Federal Court of Audit supporting the establishment of the State Audit Institution of Montenegro, which although being relatively young institution, in a short period of time has achieved great progress in Montenegro. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the further education and training of auditors, improvement of regulations, and cooperation with the Federal Court of Audit is of crucial importance for strengthening the Supreme Audit Institution, and has stressed the importance of future cooperation continuation with the Economy, Finance and Budget Committee of the German Parliament. “Simultaneously with the development of the external audit, the Government is committed in developing internal audit, and harmonize our auditing system with the EU standards, with the objective of achieving an efficient internal audit system. At the same time, an important aspect of the EU accession, is the implementation of the Action Plan for the Decentralized Implementation System of IPA funds. Obtaining accreditation for the independent use of the EU funds is an important condition for the EU membership. In this context, significant consolidation of public spending both on local and the national level is required” – said the Deputy Minister Lukšić. Representatives of the German Parliamentary Committees have emphasized that, in accordance with the German experience, a strong and independent Parliament is a secure support for the development of democracy. This includes the effective control of the Government by the Parliament. They have assessed that Montenegro is on the right path of ensuring this requirement.
