Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr. Igor Lukšić, PhD., met with the World Trade Organization Director General, Mr. Pascal Lamy

The Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr. Igor Lukšić, PhD., last night held talks in Geneva with the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Mr. Pascal Lamy. The Deputy Minister Lukšić, has emphasized that the WTO Membership is the top priority foreign – policy and economic objective of the Government of Montenegro in the forthcoming period, and he briefed Mr. Lamy on the current economic situation in the country. The Director General Mr. Lamy, said that Montenegrin Government with its recent activities has opened a door to membership and he expressed the readiness of the WTO to support Montenegro in becoming the member of this multilateral organization. The two officials have expressed hope that the bilateral negotiations between Montenegro and Ukraine will be a constructive one, resulting in timely conclusion of the Treaty between the countries.
