Press release: Fifth negotiations round between Montenegro and Ukraine, aimed at concluding the bilateral Treaty

Montenegrin delegation, led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr. Igor Lukšić, PhD., held in Geneva the fifth negotiations round with the Ukrainian delegation, aimed at concluding the bilateral treaty and obtaining the WTO membership. Negotiations between the parties were held in a constructive and open atmosphere, resulting in achieving certain progress in negotiations, but it is however still too early to give an assessment on the date of concluding the Treaty between Montenegro and Ukraine. Mr. Lukšić, has informed the interlocutors on the current negotiations status between Montenegro and Ukraine and emphasized his expectation that the intensification and constructive result of the bilateral negotiations will result in timely conclusion of the treaty between the two counties. In this manner, the prerequisites will be created to fulfill one of the most important foreign – policy and economic priority of the Government, which is the WTO membership, said the Deputy Prime Minister Lukšić. The interlocutors have praised the current activities and efforts of Montenegrin Government aimed at accessing the WTO, and have expressed their readiness in providing support, hoping that all prerequisites for the WTO membership of Montenegro will be soon created and further implementation of the Government’s Agenda for the integration in the European structures.
