Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr. Igor Lukšić, PhD., met the Foreign Affairs Minister of Slovak Republic, Mr. Miroslav Lajčak

The Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr. Igor Lukšić, PhD., met with the Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Miroslav Lajcak. The meeting was used as the opportunity to discuss the economic and financial situation in Montenegro, with an emphasis on current economic developments in Europe. The Deputy Prime Minister Lukšić has informed the Minister Lajcak on the activities of the Government of Montenegro aimed at overcoming the consequences of the economic and financial crisis, improving the business environment, strengthening financial system and other important projects for the recovery of Montenegrin economy. He stressed that measures undertaken by Montenegro, in order to restore the economy, is similar to the models implemented by the other countries of the world, and recommend by the IMF and the World Bank. "In the previous period we done a lot, we decreased the public spending by around 7% of GDP, established a modern mechanisms to encourage entrepreneurship and small and medium – sized enterprises", said the Deputy Prime Minister Lukšić. The progress of Montenegro was discussed on the meeting in the process of joining the European Union. It was concluded that from the time of regaining independence, Montenegro has made significant progress, but numerous activities and obligations are yet to be implemented in the forthcoming period.
