Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr. Igor Lukšić, PhD., met with the Finance Minister of Czech Republic, Mr. Eduardo Janot

The Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr. Igor Lukšić, PhD., met today in Podgorica with the Minister of Finance of Czech Republic, Mr. Eduard Janota. The two officials exchanged opinions on current events in the European economy and the challenges facing Montenegro and the Czech Republic in mitigating the effects of the global economic crisis. Both officials were satisfied with the bilateral cooperation and expressed interest in its further intensification and deepening, especially in the economic area. When speaking about the key foreign policy priorities - membership of Montenegro in the EU and NATO, the Deputy Prime Minister Lukšić emphasized the Government's commitment in meeting the necessary criteria for the progress on demanding integration path. Recently proposed set of laws in the financial sector with the ambition to incorporate the best international practice and the EU directives are a confirmation of the Government's commitment, said Lukšić. Minister Janot has praised the progress made and the efforts of Montenegro to the European integration and stressed the readiness of the Czech Government to continue its support to Montenegro in this process.
