Ministers of Interior of Montenegro and Serbia, Ivan Brajovic and Ivica Dacic, signed Monday, 4 October, the Agreement on Emergency Situations, which endorses cross-border cooperation and joint effort in fighting natural disasters, unforeseen catastrophes and other types of emergency situations.
Both Ministers said that the agreement will reinforce and formalize the already excellent cooperation between the two departments. They also noted that cooperation in this and other areas is crucial for the region.
Minister Brajovic complimented his counterpart as well as other Ministers of Interior in the region as excellent partners. He underlined that this act is merely a “formalization of the already existing cooperation.” He also announced similar formalization of excellent cooperation in other areas.
The two Ministers stressed that the cooperation between the two Ministries will contribute to a better life of citizens of both Montenegro and Serbia, and make the border between Montenegro and Serbia safer for the movement of all law abiding citizens and impenetrable for lawbreakers.
Minister Dacic stated that wherever concrete possibilities for cooperation exist ― like in the present case ― the cooperation is established at the highest level and enjoys the highest degree of quality. Following up on his counterpart, Minister Dacic announced the plan for signing similar agreements in other areas, especially the Reemission Agreement necessary for the EU accession process and the agreement on police cooperation.
