Abazović: Corruption and crime are the biggest losers of the past year
The previous year was marked by the fight against corruption and crime. Although some institutions did not do their best, important international addresses positively assessed achieved results. The National Council for the Fight against High-Level Corruption has been established and has achieved notable results. Although there is a lot of room for progress, we can say that corruption and crime are the biggest losers of the past year and that they no longer have a foothold in the highest executive bodies, said Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović on the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day.
Abazović states that Montenegro, according to estimates of some reputable international institutions, loses about 150 million euros a year due to corruption, which is equivalent to the construction of seven hospitals or 150 kindergartens.
The zero tolerance for corruption is part of this Government's programme from the beginning. We will do our best to save Montenegro from this ingrained problem of our society and the region in general, Abazović points out.
