Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović opened the conference on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, organised by the Ministry of Justice, Human and Minority Rights with the support of the Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Montenegro. The Draft Strategy for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities from Discrimination and Promotion of Equality 2022-2027 was presented at the conference.
DPM Abazović emphasised the importance of approaching these matters with greater sensitivity in the future.

It is our duty to make additional efforts to implement the strategies, while the development of our country should be accompanied by greater inclusion of persons with disabilities, said Abazović.

He pointed out that without the inclusive institutions, one cannot move forward.

We are not inclusive enough not only when it comes to people with disabilities, but as a society in general, which is a stumbling block to integration processes. We must promote universal values, and our moral and human obligation is to protect people with disabilities, said Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović.

UNDP Resident Representative in Montenegro Daniela Gašparíková, Acting Director General of the Directorate for Protection and Equality of Persons with Disabilities Aleksandra Popović, Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms Siniša Bjeković, experts participating in preparation of the document, as well as Executive Director of the Association of Youth with Disabilities of Montenegro Marina Vujačić also spoke at the conference.
