Despite the challenges, Montenegro is focused on strengthening ties that would contribute to strengthening its position as a safe investment destination, with a favourable tax system and the application of international business standards, said Prime Minister Dritan Abazović during a meeting with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann on the sidelines of the Paris Peace Forum.

Abazović said that the Government is dedicated to creating favourable conditions for attracting foreign direct investments and opening new markets, primarily through the establishment of a stable political system that will rest on the rule of law and the fight against corruption.

The officials noted the extraordinary cooperation between Montenegro and the OECD and expressed the mutual willingness to further improve cooperation.

Furthermore, the meeting launched an initiative on cooperation regarding the improvement of standards in Free Zones in order to apply the highest OECD standards, which would also permanently strengthen Montenegro's capacity in that area.

The Prime Minister invited Cormann to visit Montenegro and discuss the possibilities of cooperation in other areas where the OECD is active, such as public administration reform, digitization, business and strengthening standardization, as a prerequisite for inclusion in international and European integration flows, which are also a basis for removing technical barriers to trade, i.e. provision of free flow of goods and services.
