Abazović meets with Kombos: Cyprus to continue supporting Montenegro on its European path

Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Constantinos Kombos, on the sidelines of the 78th UN General Assembly.

Abazović and Kombos discussed the enhancement of bilateral cooperation and the exchange of experiences in the field of tourism. They also discussed cooperaton in the European integration process. In this context, Minister Kombos reaffirmed Cyprus's commitment to supporting Montenegro in its ongoing integration process.

Prime Minister Abazović expressed satisfaction with the traditionally strong and friendly relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Cyprus, emphasising the potential for further development in various areas of mutual interest.

While expressing gratitude for Cyprus's past support in Montenegro's accession process to the European Union, Prime Minister Abazović conveyed his expectation that Cyprus's support, both politically and in terms of expertise, will continue in the future. He highlighted that the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of Cyprus in 2012 provides a legal framework for cooperation in various sectors crucial for Montenegro's European path.

Prime Minister Abazović also mentioned Montenegro's fruitful cooperation with Cyprus in the field of internal affairs, particularly through participation in joint EU projects. He emphasised Montenegro's interest in strengthening bilateral police cooperation.
