Abazović pays official visit to Herceg Novi: This city is a regional centre of health tourism
Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović paid an official visit to the Municipality of Herceg Novi today.
DPM Abazović met with President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi Stevan Katić, Vice President of the Municipality Miloš Konjević and President of the Municipal Assembly Nikola Samardžić. The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the local government on the results achieved in the previous period, noting that he was pleased to pay an official visit to this Municipality.
Emphasising that Herceg Novi is a municipality that has been neglected for decades, DPM Abazović Abazović said that the Bay of Kotor and Herceg Novi have a huge economic potential.
Recalling that Herceg Novi was a regional centre of health tourism, Abazović expressed his desire to return the municipality to its former glory.
DPM Abazović announced that, after the visit to the Municipality of Herceg Novi, a series of visits to the coastal municipalities will follow, which will aim to emphasise the importance of tourism and promote the summer tourist season in Montenegro.
President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi Stevan Katić said that the last three decades have been difficult for Herceg Novi and its citizens, given the numerous failed privatizations, such as the closure of Shipyard Bijela, privatization of HTP Boka, five attempts to privatize the Institute Dr Simo Milošević, but also many other catastrophic economic moves of the previous Government.
Municipal President Katić made concrete solution proposals for many of the current and chronic problems of Herceg Novi, such as the functioning of the company Vektra Boka Herceg Novi, Meljine Hospital, the Institute, but also the traffic jams and the lack of a bypass.
He also emphasised that the citizens of Herceg Novi have high expectations of the Government of Montenegro, and that the problems need to be solved quickly and efficiently, in order for Herceg Novi to finally get rid of the burden of the past and everything that bothered the local government and its citizens.
Today's meeting was an opportunity to inform Deputy Prime Minister Abazović about the infrastructure construction on the territory of Herceg Novi and Luštica, but also with novelties such as the opened Museum "Njegoš's School" and the House of Ivo Andrić.
The meeting noted that it is paradoxical that Herceg Novi was not the bearer of the development of the Bay of Kotor and Montenegro, but a brutal example of transitional economic devastation. Furthermore, the officials agreed that all available forces should be invested in the preparation of the upcoming summer tourist season so that Herceg Novi and other parts of the Montenegrin coast become regional tourist centres.
