Abazović to open international scientific conference of University of Oxford and CSB
Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović will speak tomorrow at the opening of the International Scientific Conference "Enhancement: Cognitive, Moral and Mood", which will be held on 1 and 2 March in Belgrade. The international scientific conference is organised by the Center for the Study of Bioethics (CBS) in cooperation with the University of Oxford. Vojin Rakić, Full Professor, Director of the Center for the Study of Bioethics, Head of the European Division of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics and Chair of the Cambridge Working Group for Bioethics Education, and Baroness Finlay of Llandaff, member of the House of Lords, will also speak at the opening.
On this occasion, DPM Abazović stated that it was a great honour for him to open this international scientific conference.
"I am looking forward to a dialogue on philosophical and ethical topics with scientists from the world's most prestigious universities," Abazović said.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that he would soon present his study on ethics, which he has been preparing for a long time, adding that this would be a good opportunity to test certain hypotheses from the study.
"I want to thank the organisers for providing me with this unique opportunity. I will do my best to justify the trust," said Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović.
The organiser of the international conference – the Center for the Study of Bioethics is a global scientific institution based in Belgrade, whose associate members are the world's most famous bioethicists such as Peter Singer, John Harris, Arthur Caplan, Eric Perens and Ingmar Persson.
Bioethics is a scientific discipline that studies human action in relation to life. It is interdisciplinary thinking on the topics of human health, death, life, environment, attitudes towards animals, development of science, politics, and economics in the context of life.
The annual conference, which has traditionally been held in Belgrade since 2012, will be attended by many famous scientists from several most prestigious universities, such as Katrien Devolder (University of Oxford), Julian Savulescu (University of Oxford), Arthur Caplan (New York University), James Hughes (University of Massachusetts), Jesse Gray (Colorado State University), Sarah Chan (University of Edinburgh), Anders Sanderberg (University of Oxford), Jonathan Pugh (University of Oxford) and many other scientists from world’s most prestigious scientific institutes.
DPM Abazović obtained his doctoral degree in 2019 at the University of Sarajevo, doctoral thesis on "Global Politics - Ethical Aspects of Globalization".
