Abazović: Victories achieved on 13 July should inspire us on our European path
Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović said that 13 July, the Statehood Day of Montenegro, is celebrated because of two important historic events that largely shape Montenegrin statehood and independence.
DPM Abazović stated that today, when our country is a respected NATO member and the main candidate for full membership in the EU, we remember 13 July 1878, the day when Montenegro was internationally recognised at the Berlin Congress.
We also remember 13 July 1941, when Montenegro, with the first armed uprising in the World War II, ignited the light of freedom in Nazi-Fascism-enslaved Europe and paved the way for freedom, setting an example for everyone in the fight for freedom.
The Deputy Prime Minister further states that the challenges we face today are different, but no less important.
We are committed to Montenegro's European path, necessary internal reforms, laying sound foundations and a new approach to running the country, a different approach to the public good, preserving the anti-fascist tradition as the core of multiethnic, multi-religious and civil Montenegro. Therefore, I want that victories achieved of 13 July inspire us in achieving the victories that have yet to come on our European path, the Deputy Prime Minister's congratulatory message reads.
