Abazović, Von Cramon: Support for civic, European and environmental perspective of Montenegro

Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met today with Viola von Cramon-Taubadel, the European Parliament's Rapporteur for Kosovo and a member of the German Greens.

DPM Abazović pointed out that the European perspective should unite the countries of the Western Balkans, emphasising that Montenegro is ready to make a key contribution to that process. Speaking about EU enlargement and the new methodology, Abazović stressed that Montenegro is making great efforts to be the next EU member, emphasising the results achieved in the previous period in the fight against corruption and organised crime, as a key issue of further progress on its European path. In that sense, Abazović pointed out the results that Montenegro has achieved in a short time in the fight against smuggling of tobacco products and the fight against transnational drug cartels originating from Montenegro.

MEP Viola von Cramon thanked for the warm welcome and expressed full support to the civic, European and environmental perspective of Montenegro. Speaking about the new enlargement methodology, she emphasised the importance of reforms in the area of rule of law and expressed full support to further progress of Montenegro in that area.
