Congratulations on the Statehood Day

July 13th, 1878. and 1941. are dates of Montenegrin history which are written in golden letters. That is when we gained our statehood and freedom. The foundation made by our ancestors serves as a pathway for our life today, as well as for the values of our future.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes our citizens from here and abroad a happy Statehood day. The Montenegrin national holiday was congratulated by many friends of our country.

One of the first congratulations arrived from Brussels from an official Twitter account of NATO, as well as the Embassy of the United States of America which pointed out that Montenegro is a respected ally and a contributor to the collective security. Allied Joint Force Command in Naples reminded us that Montenegro gained independence at the Congress of Berlin in 1878 and that our country contributes to the Alliance and stability of the Western Balkans.

Oana Cristina Popa, the ambassador of the EU to Montenegro congratulated Montenegrin citizens the Statehood day and the US secretary of State Antony Blinken in his congratulations noted that this year we mark 15 years of excellent bilateral relations, as well as the fourth anniversary since our country joined NATO. He added that the United States stands with countries that are dedicated to the reforms. “Tolerant and inclusive Montenegro stands firmly grounded in Euroatlantic society leads to a safer and more prosperous future for all its citizens, wrote Blinken in his congratulations.

Anže Logar, Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out in his letter to the head of Montenegrin diplomacy that the political dialogue and a high level of understanding between the two countries clearly show the quality of the bilateral cooperation.

Bujar Osmani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia wished a happy national holiday to the Montenegrin people and minister Đorđe Radulović in a video message. “Dear friends, dear Đorđe, I have a great pleasure to congratulate the Statehood day to You minster, to Your diplomatic network, as well as citizens of Montenegro”, he said pointing out that the friendship between our two countries has been confirmed by his visit to Podgorica in January.

”We highly appreciate your visit to Ohrid, your participation at the Prespa Forum, as well as your presence at the first meeting of the informal group B6. All this proves our dedication to regional stability, concluded Osmani in his message on Twitter, stating that he expects more intensive bilateral cooperation in the future, with aims to fulfill the common European goals.

The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey congratulated the holiday, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu conveyed to his Montenegrin colleague Đorđe Radulović expressions of friendship, pointing that his country highly values good relations with Montenegro, which stands as an example of multiculturalism and multiconfessionalism in the region.

The head of Czech diplomacy Jakub Kulhanek congratulated the Statehood day to minister Radulović conveying support for our European path and pointed that the Czech republic inherits excellent bilateral relations with Montenegro.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria wished prosperity, pointing that they support our European perspective and that the traditional friendship between our two countries, as well as a membership in the Alliance, present the best base for further cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania also congratulated the Statehood day, pointing that Romania is dedicated to cooperation and that it will continue to support the European agenda of Montenegro.

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Poland and Latvia published their Statehood day congratulations with photos of the Bay of Kotor and St. Stefan. The congratulations for the holiday were sent by the Embassies of Slovakia and Algiers in Montenegro, as well as from various friends of our country from around the world.
