Deputy Prime Minister Ervin Ibrahimović meets with IFRC President
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović held a meeting today with the President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), Kate Forbes.
Minister Ibrahimović expressed his satisfaction with the visit of the IFRC President to Montenegro, noting that it reflects the strong collaboration between Montenegro, its National Society, and the International Federation. In light of shifting geopolitical dynamics, the Minister highlighted Montenegro’s active efforts to raise awareness about the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law as a prerequisite for sustainable solutions to current conflicts.
During the discussions, both parties agreed that only through unified efforts can greater efficiency be achieved in addressing security challenges. They exchanged views on opportunities to further enhance cooperation, particularly in supporting vulnerable communities, responding to potential natural disasters, and through programmes focused on social assistance, healthcare, and education.
The conversation also touched on the IFRC’s ongoing efforts in disaster risk management, especially through the adoption of the 2023 Guidelines, which serve as an important tool for helping countries develop legislative, institutional, and strategic capacities in this field.
