Director General of Turkish National Police Aktas: We are ready and willing to help your fight against organised crime

Our ambition is to achieve strong and productive cooperation between the two police forces, said Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović at a meeting with Director General of Turkish National Police Mehmet Aktaş and other leaders of the institution.

DPM Abazović presented the results achieved in the fight against crime, emphasising the historical seizure of 1,400 kg of cocaine, as well as the ban on storage of tobacco products in the Port of Bar Free Zone.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the number of migrants received by Turkey is a humane act, adding that Montenegro sees Turkey as a close friend and partner.

Director General of Turkish National Police Mehmet Aktaş pointed out that the Turkish police is ready and willing to help Montenegro in the fight against organised crime and that they want to strengthen cooperation between the two police.

Aktaş informed Abazović about the capacities of the Turkish police, stating that 330,000 employees cover 67 million people, as well as 5 million migrants that Turkey received in the previous period.

The Director General of Turkish National Police spoke about cooperation that the police of the two countries are achieving in education of police officers, stating that they have so far organised 53 such programmes, in which 810 participants from Montenegro participated.

After the official meeting, Director General Aktaş and DPM Abazović, accompanied by the Turkish and Montenegrin delegations, visited the museum in the General Directorate of Security of the Republic of Turkey.
