DPM Abazović hosted by one of the greatest writers
During his official visit to the Republic of Albania, Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović was hosted by one of the greatest writers, the award-winning Albanian writer and fifteen-time Nobel Prize candidate for literature Ismail Kadare, in his house in Durres.
In a conversation with Abazović, Kadare spoke about his literary works, his studies in the Soviet Union under Stalin, his life and literary work in Enver Hoxha's Albania, and his exile in France.
Along with Ismail, Abazović and the Montenegrin delegation were welcomed by Helena Kadare, the first woman novelist in Albania.
Ismail Kadare is one of the most important European writers of the 20th century, and he especially stood out with the novel "The General of the Dead Army". His works have been translated into 45 world languages.
Kadare is the winner of the International Booker Prize in 2005 and the Prince of Asturias Award in 2009.
He is the recipient of the French Legion of Honor and a corresponding member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences in Paris.
He has repeatedly rejected offers from political parties to become a consensual president of the Republic of Albania.
