EIB: Government safeguards state from fiscal risks, opening office in Podgorica as a sign of trust
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is set to open an office in Podgorica soon. This move is a sign of trust in the institutions and a measure of commitment to Montenegro's development, stated members of the European Investment Bank delegation led by Vice President Kyriacos Kakouris during their visit to Montenegro, on the occasion of signing the Agreement on the 11 million euros EU grant for the field of education.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić expressed satisfaction with the signing of the agreement with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation and highlighted that the 11 million euros grant will provide a strong impetus for the modernization and equipping of 13 educational institutions across Montenegro.
Investing in education is an investment in the future. We are pleased that the European Union once again confirms itself as our partner on this path, said the Prime Minister.
During discussions with the EIB delegation, the Prime Minister presented Montenegro's development plan until 2030, which relies on intensifying projects in the transport infrastructure, primarily through the construction of a motorway network and the modernisation of the railway infrastructure. He emphasised that balanced regional development is not possible without strengthening transport links and highlighted that the announcement of the continuation of motorway construction has already sparked interest from foreign investors for investments in northern Montenegro.
Representatives of the EIB informed the Prime Minister about the intention to diversify cooperation with Montenegro and stated that besides projects in the transportation sector and support for small and medium-sized enterprises, there is room for enhancing cooperation in other areas, such as education.
Your strategic vision and consideration regarding the financing of important projects safeguard the country from fiscal risks. This is a good, responsible, and different approach. Therefore, we are closely following your activities and aim to improve cooperation on all fronts. One of the expressions of our relationship with Montenegro is the decision to open an office in Podgorica, stated the EIB.
