First political consultations held between Montenegro and Slovakia
The first political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic were held on February 27, 2025, in Bratislava.
The consultations were led by State Secretary, Ambassador Periša Kastratović, on behalf of Montenegro, and State Secretary Marek Eštok, on behalf of Slovakia.
Given the importance of the current phase in Montenegro’s EU integration process, Slovakia reaffirmed its strong support and expressed its interest in providing additional expert assistance in key areas necessary for fulfilling obligations under the European agenda. The concrete progress Montenegro has made in recent years was commended, reinforcing its leading role in the EU integration process. Montenegro was highlighted as an exemplary candidate, setting a positive precedent for other aspirant countries.
The consultations also emphasized the excellent political relations between Montenegro and Slovakia, which will be further strengthened through upcoming high-level visits. These visits present a valuable opportunity to enhance economic cooperation, particularly through the promotion of Montenegro’s investment and tourism potential among the Slovak business community and citizens.
Discussions also covered key topics within the EU framework, as well as broader regional and geopolitical issues.
