Minister of Economic Development Jakov Milatović met today with German investors interested in investing in Montenegro. Ambassador of Germany to Montenegro Robert Weber and the Honorary Consul of Montenegro to Germany Volker Zeh.

The interest of investors from Germany has significantly increased in the past few months, which means that they see this Government as a partner that has been recognised by all international addresses as a Government with zero tolerance for corruption, the Minister stressed.

Milatović said that so far we have not had enough investors from Germany in Montenegro, precisely because of the corruption that has existed for years.

The situation is significantly different now and we want to bring new investors who will create new jobs and employ our people. Investors from Germany are recognised as credible investors, and they are very important to us, so we want to attract as many as possible of them. With the arrival of investors from Germany, other investors from Europe will also recognise Montenegro as a country in which it is desirable to invest, said Milatović.

He emphasised that Montenegro's main foreign policy goal is EU membership, and the Government is working intensively to speed up negotiations and achieve the goal, which is to be part of the EU family by 2025. Montenegro is also implementing numerous reforms in the area of the rule of law, which are crucial in the fight against organised crime and corruption, as well as the fight against the grey economy, which, as he said, will put the country on the map of all large and serious investors.

He added that by joining the EU, Montenegro will create additional preconditions for attracting foreign direct investments, and that the Government's wish is for the Montenegrin economy to be better connected with the European economy, whose backbone is Germany.

Ambassador Weber said that Germany supports Montenegro on its European path, and that the interest of German investors has increased since the mandate of the new Government, which has shown in a short time that it is a reliable partner of Germany.

Investors expressed satisfaction with the meeting with Minister Milatović and what they heard from him about Montenegro. They expressed special interest in investing in the IT sector, smart technology and the processing industry, but also in other areas. They said that they recognised a country of great possibilities and potential in Montenegro.
