Ibrahimović receives newly appointed Ambassador of Greece Dimitris Joldasis
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović met today in Podgorica with the newly appointed Ambassador of Greece Dimitris Joldasis.
Congratulating the ambassador on his appointment, the minister emphasized that Montenegro and Greece continue to strengthen their traditional friendship, as evidenced by their intensive political dialogue and cooperation within NATO.
The minister expressed gratitude to Greece for its continuous support on Montenegro’s European path. Referring to the recent closure of three negotiation chapters, he stated his confidence that, through joint efforts and continued support from partners, Montenegro will successfully complete the negotiation process.
"By closing three negotiation chapters, we have sent a clear message that we are ready to work together towards achieving our primary goal – EU membership by 2028. We are grateful for the support of international partners, but we are also aware that the greatest responsibility lies with us, which is why all political actors must remain committed to the European perspective," the minister stated.
Ambassador Joldasis congratulated Montenegro on the closure of three negotiation chapters at the latest Intergovernmental Conference. "Greece has been committed to the enlargement of the European Union to the Western Balkans from the very beginning," Joldasis said, adding that Greece will continue to strongly support Montenegro in its efforts to close the remaining chapters and join the EU.
They expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and Greece, noting that there is significant potential for further deepening, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, defense, and culture.
