Ibrahimović with Sarrazin: Germany supports Montenegro's European path, maintaining the momentum of reforms is crucial

European integration remains a key priority for Montenegro, and with the strong support of Germany and other partners, we remain committed to closing negotiation chapters during 2025 and maintaining the reform momentum until final accession to the European Union, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović during a meeting with the Special Envoy of the Federal Government of Germany for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin.

The Minister stated that Montenegro deeply appreciates Germany's continuous political and expert support in the European integration process, especially considering Montenegro's goal of becoming an EU member by 2028.

"Montenegro possesses the necessary capacities to finalize the European integration process, which was best confirmed by the results achieved during the past year," the Minister assessed, adding that at this stage, the support of partners from Brussels is crucial to further strengthen the reform momentum and ensure smooth progress towards EU membership.

Special Envoy Sarrazin praised Montenegro's reform efforts, emphasizing that we can count on Germany's full political and expert support on the European path. He stressed that it is necessary to maintain the reform momentum, whereby consistency and efficiency in implementing reforms will be the decisive factor in the further negotiation process.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the importance of regional cooperation and good neighborly relations, and assessed that further progress in the region depends on continuous dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation in the spirit of European values.
