Implementation of the census is important for the further development of Montenegro
Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, held today the second round of consultations with representatives of parliamentary parties, non-governmental organizations and Councils of less numerous nations, as well as representatives of the Statistics Administration with a view to finding the best model for the implementation of the Population Census scheduled for 30 November.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the implementation of the census was important for making strategic decisions for the further development of Montenegro and that its implementation was in the interest of the state, the Government and society as a whole.
"We need efficiency, but not at the expense of quality." One of the circumstances that must be kept in mind is that the postponement of the Census may incur new expenses, especially due to the fiscal moment in which Montenegro is. In this sense, we must all show a high degree of responsibility", the Prime Minister pointed out.
Monstat representatives informed about the possibilities of expanding census commissions and creating new software for process control, taking into account the protection of personal data.
Representatives of parliamentary parties, non-governmental organizations and Councils of less numerous nations expressed a positive attitude towards the Government's openness to dialogue, pointing out that, among other things, it is necessary to first resolve issues related to data protection, control and inclusiveness of the process.
The need for a stronger role of the Parliament in the context of the establishment of a working body to monitor implementation and strengthen trust in the process itself was noted.
The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the Parliament, Andrija Mandić, as well as the Ministers Novica Vuković and Fatmir Gjeka.
