Prime Minister Milojko Spajić met with Mairead McGuinness, the European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and the Capital Markets Union, in Brussels.

During the discussion, McGuinness particularly supported Montenegro's intention to join the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), which encompasses 36 European countries.

It was emphasised that this move would bring numerous benefits to both citizens and the economy.

McGuinness assured that the Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA) will assist in the entire process. She also offered expert support to accelerate Montenegro's preparation of the draft application for membership in SEPA.

This step could bring Montenegro closer to the single European market, which would be crucial for our country's economic development.

Discussions also revolved around the announced legislative changes regarding anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing, confirming Montenegro's determination to meet EU criteria in all areas.
