Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between Montenegro and Azerbaijan holds its third session
The third session of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on 27 and 28 June 2024 in Podgorica. The Montenegrin delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development Nik Gjeloshaj, while the Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Minister of Labour and Social Protection of population Sahil Babayev.
Concurrent with the plenary session of the Joint Commission, a Business Forum was organised on 28 June, which was opened by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development Nik Gjeloshaj.
The aim of the third session of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan was to undertake concrete actions to enhance the traditionally strong political and economic relations between Montenegro and Azerbaijan, as well as to identify new development opportunities and diversify mutual cooperation in areas of common interest.
During the expert segment of the Joint Commission, members reviewed cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investments, energy, transportation, labour and social welfare, education, culture, tourism, and other sectors to jointly explore possibilities for further deepening cooperation.
Montenegro and Azerbaijan have a long-standing tradition of cooperation across various sectors, which is continuously developing and improving. Our economic partnerships not only contribute to the economic growth of our countries but also strengthen the friendly ties between our people, emphasised Deputy Prime Minister Gjeloshaj.
As a result of the Commission's work, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development Nik Gjeloshaj, and Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Population Sahil Babayev, signed the Protocol from the third session of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This Protocol represents a significant foundation for the further development of relations between Montenegro and Azerbaijan through the implementation of new and mutually beneficial initiatives.
