Minister Radulović and Ambassador Urban: Relations between Montenegro and the Czech Republic should be empowered through fostering of political dialogue and economic cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović spoke today with the Ambassador of the Czech Republic H.E. Karel Urban.

Interlocutors assessed that excellent and friendly relations of Montenegro and the Czech Republic should be empowered through the strengthening of economic cooperation and intensifying of political contacts at the highest level.

Minister Radulović expressed that Montenegro values the consistent support of the Czech Republic in the European integration process while pointing out the expert help and successful cooperation in areas of justice and interior affairs. On that line, he underlined that Montenegro is committed to conducting reforms and accelerating negotiations with the EU. He stressed the important role of the Czech Republic through the mechanisms of the Visegrad Group and the Western Balkans Fund, which represent an important instrument to support European aspirations of countries of the region.

Head of Montenegrin diplomacy stated that besides joining the EU, one of the key pillars of our foreign policy will be good-neighborly cooperation and economic diplomacy. In that context, he emphasized the necessity of strengthening cooperation in areas of tourism, energetics, and transportation.

Ambassador Urban stated that the Czech Republic will continue to strongly support the enlargement policy of the EU, underlining that the Western Balkans geographically and culturally belongs to Europe. He assessed that there is room for improvement of the economic cooperation of the two countries, with a focus on attracting Czech investments. In that context, it is agreed that two countries identify additional investment potential, particularly through the organization of business forums.

Interlocutors exchanged their views on regional initiatives and mechanisms that are important for fostering cooperation and the negotiation process with the EU.
