Minister Radulović and representatives of American Jewish Committee: Values of multiculturalism and interreligious tolerance are corner stones of friendship among Montenegro, Israel and USA
“Montenegrin Government is devoted to the formation of strong ties with United States of America and Israel, as well as to credible alliance in NATO and future membership in EU”, Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović stated during the online meeting with representatives of American Jewish Committee.
He emphasized the role that American Jewish Committee traditionally has in improving of position of Jewish people, as well as in defense of democratic principles of pluralism, religious tolerance and dialogue in the USA and the world, which are values that Montenegro as multicultural society cherish and to which is seeking. “Speaking from position od Minister of Foreign Affairs of country that nurture all confessions and multiculturalism, I deeply respect your role in human right protection”, Radulović stated.
Minister Radulović expressed the belief that, so new American government, so as EU, will enhance its presence on Western Balkans, and thus contribute to the Euro-Atlantic future of the region. “That is also a message that Western Balkans remains in the focus of foreign policy of our allies and partners”, he uttered, while adding that Montenegro undertakes all the efforts in order to accelerate negotiations with EU, particularly in reform processes within Chapters 23 and 24.
“One of our priorities is economic diplomacy, respectively establishing mechanisms for attracting credible investments”, Minister Radulović concluded, while informing collocutors on Government’s attention to open Embassy in Israel.
Director of AJC in Jerusalem Avital Leibovich highlighted the leader role of Montenegro in EU integrations, as well its commitment to the membership in the NATO.
“We believe that Montenegro and Israel have a plenty potential for improvement of cooperation, specially in tourism, economy and other areas of joint interests”.
The importance that Western Balkans region has in global system of security has been also confirmed, along with fact that there is small but vibrant Jewish community in Montenegro. “Montenegro is one of the rare countries at which territory Holocaust did not happened”, Minister Radulović stated, while reminding that our country has no recorded case of public expression of antisemitism.
