Minister Radulović at the celebration of the Statehood day in Luxembourg: Montenegro equally and without exception belongs to everyone- wherever you may be, Montenegro is your home
“At the Berlin congress, in 1878. long-cherished independence and statehood of Montenegro were confirmed. That was the foundation of modern Montenegro, which shares side by side the destiny of European nations, respecting the differences amongst others. Also, the July 13th uprising in 1941, first at enslaved and by a fascist boot run over Europe, sparked the torch of liberty and wrote in golden letters the name Montenegro in the heritage of antifascism. The values for which our ancestors gave lives, we cherish today with more care than ever,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović to the representatives of Montenegrin diaspora at the Statehood day celebration in the Dutchy of Luxembourg.
While addressing our emigrants, he added that in the history of Montenegro a special place belongs to them, who striving for survival went outside of the borders of their country, spawning renowned figures on all continents through history. The part of the diaspora has been particularly important after the renewal of independence in 2006.
Especially because of the feeling of belonging which Montenegro has for its people around the world, minister Radulović pointed that the Ministry which he heads wishes our diplomatic-consular representative offices to be a true home and a place that will in the best way add our identity, culture, tradition, language, and customs outside of the mother country.
The head of the Montenegrin diplomacy pointed the success which our emigrant community has built bridges of unity with the Federal Republic of Germany and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, influential allies of Montenegro in NATO, which are at the same time important partners in Euro-Atlantic integration, especially in our foreign affairs goal, membership in the European Union.
Describing Montenegro as a multiethnic and multiconfessional country, minister Radulović emphasized that it “without exceptions, equally belongs to everyone,” and that all our citizens are our immeasurable wealth, as 140 years ago so today.
“Maybe you, unwillingly and lead by the wish of a better life left Montenegro, but remember, wherever you may be, Montenegro will never leave you. Because of that, it is our joint obligation, the mother country and the diaspora, to enjoy and cherish the benefits of the independent, civil, and democratic Montenegro. In that name, I use this chance to congratulate everyone on happy Statehood day 13th of July”, said minister Radulović in Luxembourg.
