Minister Radulović at the Ministerial Meeting of the UN Group of Friends of Mediation
Montenegro strongly supports the work of the UN Group of Friends of Mediation, with full awareness that conflicts can be resolved only through peaceful means, in the spirit of dialogue and through diplomatic tools and efforts – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Đorđe Radulović said in his online address at the 11th Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of member countries of this organization.
Stating that mediation presents the most suitable way for easing tensions and achieving long-term solutions, Head of Montenegrin Diplomacy pointed out strengthening UN’s engagement on this topic presents our common responsibility.
The increased frequency of unilateral actions by various actors, and the erosion of multilateralism as one of the key principles and values of the modern world, are clear signals of the need for the UN-led international community to play an active role in aiding and abetting peace and stability around the world – Minister Radulović said.
He pointed out the importance of Inclusivity, responsibility and respect for differences as values that are necessary for maintaining peace. He also stressed the need for better inclusion of women and young in mediation processes.
Radulović said that Montenegro, as a country which is decisive in her intention to be a strong advocate of diplomacy of peace, dialogue and cooperation, considers mediation as one of its strategic priorities.
