Minister Radulović attends OSCE Mediterranean Conference in Vienna
Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović participated in the OSCE Mediterranean Conference in Vienna. This year's Conference focuses on the health crisis, transnational organised crime, and the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
At the panel "Road to resilience: post-pandemic recovery and security in the OSCE and Mediterranean regions" held in a hybrid format, the Montenegrin Foreign Minister pointed out that after more than 18 months, it is clear that the challenges of the pandemic cannot be observed only at the state level.
As he emphasised, COVID-19 is a test of the multilateral system's ability to overcome global challenges through collective action, and that the OSCE, with a comprehensive approach to security, has the necessary potential and is an important part of the global solution.
In the context of the health crisis and economic challenges, he stated that the stability and security of the Mediterranean region are of great importance, while organised criminal groups, growing cyber threats, disinformation and propaganda campaigns aimed at undermining democratic values, trust and unity are especially dangerous. Building resilient systems and societies, and strengthening democratic institutions, are among the biggest challenges that all our countries must face, said Minister Radulović, pointing out the need to intensify cooperation.
Radulović welcomed Poland's intention to define post-pandemic recovery as a key priority during next year's OSCE Chairmanship.
During this, but also some future crisis, Montenegro remains committed to cooperation with the OSCE and its member states. We are convinced that multilateralism is necessary for the protection of global health, development and security, Radulović concluded at the Conference.
The visit to Vienna will be an opportunity for the Montenegrin Foreign Minister to address the students at the Diplomatic Academy and talk about the Western Balkans as a missing piece of the puzzle when it comes to the European Union, and to meet with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid.
