Minister Radulović: Economic diplomacy is the best path towards economic recovery

Economic diplomacy is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as it provides the best path towards economic recovery. Montenegro needs credible foreign investments, as well as the continuation of the policy of zero tolerance towards corruption – It was stated at today’s meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović and the President of the Montenegrin Foreign Investors Council Cristoph Schön and General Manager of Telenor Montenegro Branko Mitrovć.

During talks, it was mutually stressed that attracting investments is essential for country’s economic growth, they assessed that Montenegro is an attractive area for investment, especially in sectors of tourism, energetics and information technologies.

They agreed that the north of the country presents a huge potential for investment, and that it is necessary to additionally intensify efforts towards promotion of Montenegro as an investment destination. With that in mind, Schön commended determination in the fight against organized crime and corruption, especially because investors seek safe and stable countries for their investments.

Mitrović said that it is very important for the country to show care and understanding for the needs and challenges of foreign investors who already work in Montenegro, because reputation of an attractive destination for investments is being built in that way, while all foreign businessmen become active promoters for investing in Montenegro.

The importance of cooperation with investment banks, improving infrastructure and raising levels of understanding for the significance of digitalization was also pointed out.

It was assessed that readiness of other countries to help us on the expert level should be used, and that favorable forecasts for the economic growth in this year look promising.

Representatives of the Foreign Investors Council expressed readiness to continue with intensive promotion of Montenegro’s potential among foreign investors.
