Minister Radulovic in talks with the ambassadors of Spain and Portugal: Strengthening cooperation and intensifying negotiations with the EU is the priority

"Spain is committed to Montenegro's membership in the European Union and is an advocate of enlargement policy," said Belgrade-based Ambassador to Montenegro Raul Bartolome Molina during a meeting with Foreign Minister Djordje Radulovic in Podgorica.

The head of Montenegrin diplomacy pointed out that the two countries have good and friendly bilateral relations, based on common Euro-Atlantic and European values. Congratulating Ambassador Molina on the opening of the honorary consulate in Podgorica, he said that this act represents the confirmation of further strengthening of interstate cooperation.

Ambassador Molina added that the honorary consulate will certainly contribute to deepening cultural and economic ties with Montenegro, emphasizing that in accordance with the desire for more Spanish investments in our country, it will work on promoting Montenegro as an attractive investment destination. In that line, he explained that they want to present to future investors the advantages of creating a base in Montenegro, before our country becomes an EU member.

At the meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Portugal, Maria Virginia Mendez da Silva Pina, it was assessed that it is necessary to intensify the political dialogue, and that bilateral visits of ministers would give impetus to the improvement of cooperation between the two countries.

Portugal's performance on enlargement policy during the current presidency of the EU Council was praised, and it was assessed that the new methodology will give more energy to the process and its political dimension.

The Ambassador of Portugal pointed out that it is important to focus on fulfilling the criteria in key areas, and that the member states are also going through evaluation processes in the domain of the rule of law, because it is a continuous process that needs to be improved.
