Minister Radulović in the French National Assembly: Parliamentary diplomacy as the mechanism for improvement of relations
“Montenegro is in the middle of Western Balkans, as inseparable part of Europe, so for us there is no alternative to the membership in the EU”, Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović stated today at the meeting with President of Group of Friendship France – Montenegro in the French Parliament Jacqueline Maquet, who delivered Medal of the National Assembly of the French Parliament to Head of Montenegrin diplomacy.
Minister Radulović reminded on traditionally good and friendly bilateral relations that should be empowered through intensifying political dialogue within parliamentary cooperation. “It is crucial for Montenegro to have support of France as eminent EU member, on its European path, whereas cooperation of two representative bodies necessary for adequate implementation of all the activities directed towards regulation of normative framework, particularly in chapters 23 and 24”, he stated. In that context, Minister Radulović accentuated the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, thus expressed firm belief that group of friendship between two parliaments will be soon formed, that will serve as significant mechanism for observing mutual needs and common challenges and contribute to the cooperation improvement.
President of the Group of Friendship between France and Montenegro reminded on her visit to Montenegro with group of parliamentarians in 2019, while emphasizing the importance of commitment of our state to the EU integration. She specially welcomed internal reform processes that will result in concrete benefits, expressing firm belief that Montenegro will be first next member of the EU.
Minister Radulović invited Maquet to visit Montenegro, while emphasizing the significance of good neighbor and regional policy. Head of Montenegrin diplomacy appraised that renewing of Initiative on establishing parliamentary dimension of the Berlin process, according to the conclusions of the Summit on Western Balkans, held on Poznań in 2019, will be very noteworthy from the aspect of faster implementation of joint projects and better understanding of EU and Western Balkans. In that regard, he reminded that French side expressed readiness to support this Initiative, thus that he expects continuation of communication aimed at realisation of this activity.
