Montenegro is proud to be recognized as a country, which, through its experience and example continues to contribute to strengthening tolerance, peace, and trust, not only in the region but also beyond. Our centuries-old tradition of peaceful coexistence has contributed to the understanding and preservation of particularities of members of different nations, religions, and cultures - a heritage we are very much proud of - said Foreign Minister Đorđe Radulović at the sixth plenary session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, which gathered parliamentarians from 41 countries in Podgorica today.

In addition to Minister Radulovic, the introductory part of the session was addressed by Parliament Speaker Aleksa Becic President of the Inter-parliamentary Union Duarte Paceco, Guatemalan Parliament Speaker Alan Estuardo Rodriguez, President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Ahmed Mohamed Aljarvan, Colombian parliamentarian, and President of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace Hager Ismail Ibrahim Abougbal.

The head of Montenegrin diplomacy said that we have nurtured multiculturalism throughout history and that we are still doing that today, trying to convey a positive impulse to the entire region.

We must learn to listen to each other, to learn from each other, to respect each other, and to promote multilateralism, unity, and solidarity. The still ongoing pandemic reminded us very clearly that only when we stand together, we can turn the odds in our favor. This is something that cannot be achieved overnight, but at the same time, represents our collective responsibility and an opportunity to leave a legacy of peace and stability to the generations to come - said Minister Radulović.

He expressed the belief that building trust, tolerance, and peace, both in the region and globally, are the basis for further, overall development and prosperity.

Montenegro, in line with its foreign policy priorities, is strongly committed to the policy of good neighborly relations, tolerance, and regional cooperation, economic growth, and stability. We are taking steps towards membership in the European Union, firmly believing that ours, but also the future of the entire region of the Western Balkans, is in Europe. It is clear that we will be responsible partners to the international community only by consolidating and investing in that goal - said Minister Radulović.

Montenegro will continue to be a reliable partner in all such endeavors, both the regionally and globally - said the head of Montenegrin diplomacy.
