Ministers Radulović and Landsbergis: Lithuania supports EU integration of Montenegro
Montenegro and the Republic of Lithuania cherish traditional friendly relations which are proven by an important jubilee, 15 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Head of Montenegrin Diplomacy Đorđe Radulović and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis concluded during their meeting.
Stating that Montenegro remains committed to EU integration and alliance within NATO, where we cooperate with Lithuania within frameworks that are important for global security, Minister Radulović pointed out that according to the latest polls, citizens support for EU membership has grown to over 74%, as well as NATO membership which is at 67%.
Also, he added that our country remains dedicated to fulfilling obligations which arise from the membership, as well as that it remains committed to contributing to regional stability, and supports better representation of Western Balkans as a strategically important region for the Alliance.
Minister Radulović expressed special gratitude to Lithuania for its strong support to Montenegro’s European integration path, and which is seen through open and continuous representation of the enlargement policy, and Twinning and Taiex knowledge and experience exchange programs.
Landsbergis emphasized that EU enlargement policy towards the Western Balkans has undoubtful Lithuanian support. Lithuania is a friend and a partner of Montenegro and mutual support in important topics is significant for strengthening overall relations of the two countries.
Heads of Diplomacies commended the cooperation between two countries in area of defense and agreed that there is room for improvement in other fields such as economy and tourism.
