Montenegro joins Creative Europe 2021-2027 programme
Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vesna Bratić and EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Mariya Gabriel signed the Agreement between the European Union and Montenegro, which includes Montenegro's participation in the Creative Europe 2021-2027 programme. By signing the Agreement, Montenegro has become a full member of the EU's most important fund to support the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors. In this way, Montenegrin institutions and organisations will be able to participate equally in all annual competitions of the Creative Europe programme. The budget of the programme amounts to 2.44 billion euros in the next seven-year period.
Creative Europe is the most important European fund for financial support in culture and improving cooperation between cultural institutions and organisations across Europe, and thus an opportunity for Montenegrin cultural institutions, national and local, non-governmental and other cultural organisations to receive financial support from the European Union for the implementation of international cultural cooperation projects.
Montenegro has participated in the Creative Europe 2014-2020 programme, which integrates previous Culture 2007-2013. The focus of this programme is to promote the economic and social role of the culture and creative industries by co-financing project activities, while the specific objectives are to preserve cultural and linguistic diversity in Europe, to strengthen the financial capacity and competitiveness of the cultural and creative sectors and to promote the transnational circulation of works and the mobility of cultural creators.
