Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić hosted today President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades.

Prime Minister Krivokapić thanked the President of Cyprus for the political and expert support so far in Montenegro's process of European integration, expressing the expectation that the positive practice will continue in the upcoming phases of the integration process. The Prime Minister emphasised that Montenegro's membership in the European Union is a priority goal and pillar of Montenegro's foreign policy.

Prime Minister Krivokapić informed the President of Cyprus about the results of the 42nd Government of Montenegro, especially about economic reforms, increase of average personal income in the country, reduction of public debt and successes of the "Europe Now" programme. PM Krivokapić expressed hope that future efforts of both countries will improve cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades described his visit to Montenegro as historic, because he has the opportunity to participate in the search for the best way "how to achieve full cooperation between the two small countries for the benefit of all its citizens". Mr. Anastasiades sees his visit to Montenegro as a modest but sincere contribution to supporting Montenegro on its European path.

I am closely following the development of Montenegro and I look forward to your enormous progress in the pre-accession negotiations. Now, special attention should be paid to Chapter 23 and Chapter 24, because the final phase of negotiations and membership depends on them, said Anastasiades.

The President of Cyprus said that it's an undisputed fact that all members of the European Union want the Western Balkans to develop and prosper, and that he hoped that the crisis in Ukraine would not slow down the accession negotiations.
