PM Krivokapić: Montenegro is in the process of recovery, the Government has plans that work

The Government of Montenegro has set health, economy and tourism as priorities, it is in the process of recovery and has plans that work, said Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić.

He said that when he took office, Montenegro had zero vaccines and zero vaccinated citizens.

Since then, over half a million doses of vaccine have arrived in Montenegro. Every third adult citizen received at least one dose, and over 28 percent were fully immunized, Krivokapić said.

For the first time, since June last year, as he said, our country has fulfilled the conditions for returning to the EU's green list of epidemiologically safe countries, which are opening borders for Montenegro.

Our borders are open too, as well as hotels and restaurants. The number of flights and destinations from which tourists come to us is increasing, Krivokapić pointed out.

He said that the Government had set the health of citizens as a priority.

We have made efforts to procure vaccines, to enable equitable distribution of vaccines to all citizens of Montenegro. We had to fix the epidemiological situation, to fix the economy. Now our priority is economic recovery and tourism, Krivokapić noted.

That is why we have created aid packages for the economy, especially tourism, the Prime Minister said.

He pointed out that millions of aid had been provided to the tourist economy.

The data is clear. We have over 30 percent of vaccinated citizens. Today, over 62,000 tourists stay in our country, which is 70% compared to the same period in 2019. Budget revenues in June increased by 15.4 million euros compared to the same period in 2019. Over 25 thousand tourist vouchers were awarded for holidays in Montenegro, over six thousand tourists used free PCR tests. Air Montenegro had over 130 flights in just 20 days, Krivokapić said.

He believes that all this is good news and that Montenegro is in the process of recovery.

We have plans that work, but we still have a lot of work to do. That is why we are here, Krivokapić said.
