PM Krivokapić opens House of Olives in Bar
Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Aleksandar Stijović, and President of the Municipality of Bar Dušan Raičević opened today the "House of Olives" in Stari Bar.
Prime Minister Krivokapić pointed out the importance of olive growing in the Montenegrin tradition, noting that the olive tree has always been a symbol of peace, coexistence and friendship in Bar and Montenegro.
PM Krivokapić emphasised that Montenegro has the opportunity to reach the European consumption and quality of olive oil per capita, stressing that we must nurture and use natural potentials in this area even more.
Minister Aleksandar Stijović pointed out that Montenegro and Bar are officially getting an olive growing centre today.
Stijović emphasised that the project is the crown of the joint work of the Ministry, municipality, olive growers, but also all those who contributed to the project, stating that the facility has everything needed for the development of both olive growing and tourist offer of Bar and Montenegro.
The House of Olives will process and produce oil exclusively according to EU standards, packaging and labeling of oil, organise workshops, seminars and trainings. For tourists, who visit Stari Bar throughout the year, there is a sales and exhibition space, and thus will promote Montenegrin products, not only olives, but also homemade honey, wine, fruit, and everything that our producers have to offer, Minister Stijović pointed out.
Representative of the Association of Olive Growers from Bar Ćazim Alković expressed great satisfaction with the opening of the centre, emphasising the readiness of the Association to help in all further activities and valorisation of this project.
