Prime Minister Dritan Abazović at the Oxford Union

Prime Minister Dritan Abazović delivered a lecture at the University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world.‎

‎President of the Oxford Union‎‎ Matthew Dick‎‎ invited Prime Minister Dritan Abazović ‎‎to deliver a lecture at the world's most prestigious debating society with a tradition of hosting internationally prominent individuals across politics, academia, and popular culture.‎ The Oxford Union is celebrating 200 years of free speech as 2023 is the Union’s Bicentenary year.

‎When you want your ideas to succeed, it is important that you do not give up, be confident in yourself, boldly move forward despite the pressures, the Prime Minister emphasised during the lecture, adding that young people in politics restore hope and have the strength to make changes in society.‎

‎Speaking about our country, Prime Minister Abazović pointed out that Montenegro is now, compared to three years earlier, a much better place to live in and that democratic trends have made tremendous progress.‎

‎Sincere and brave people must step out of their comfort zone if they want to make positive changes and progress in their countries, Abazović pointed out and added that he is extremely optimistic when it comes to the future of Montenegro.‎

The Oxford Union has a rich history and a long tradition of bringing together world leaders, thinkers and influencers across politics, religion, science and the arts. Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, HH the Dalai Lama, Mother Theresa, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking are just some of the famous figures that they have had the honour of hosting.
