Prime Minister Milojko Spajić delivered a political briefing titled "New government, new prospects? Reviving Montenegro's EU accession bid" at the European Policy Centre (EPC) in Brussels yesterday.

During an engaging interaction, the Prime Minister presented the Government's achievements in its first 100 days in office, discussed the momentum gained after the EU-Montenegro Intergovernmental Conference held in January, outlined plans to maintain the accession process's momentum, and responded to numerous questions.

Montenegro can fill the vacant position as the 28th EU member state by 2028, stated the Prime Minister, adding:

The accession to the EU must be based on two pillars: the development of European values we share, especially through strengthening the rule of law and increasing integration into Europe's single market. These are the benefits that citizens most eagerly anticipate.

The Prime Minister believes that Montenegro's accession to the EU could be beneficial to all.

Montenegro can be a major promoter of European values and enlargement policy in the Western Balkans. As a society welcoming all identities, we will work diligently to demonstrate to all our neighbours that EU accession is a living and successful narrative based on delivering positive results.

The goal is not only to complete tasks regarding meeting criteria but genuinely bring Montenegro closer to European standards and values in every aspect.

Investing in capital infrastructure projects is a key factor in bringing EU citizens closer on one hand and Montenegrins on the other, believes Spajić, continuing:

The new growth plan for the Western Balkans is an opportunity for our market of half a million people to become part of a European market a thousand times larger, with half a billion people. With increased certainty about our EU accession, market uncertainty decreases, and investments are growing larger, more stable, and coming from increasingly credible investors. This is an opportunity we will certainly seize.
