Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, held individual consultations today with the Ambassadors of the European Union member states and NATO partners: Ambassador of Italy Andreina Marsella, Ambassador of France Anne-Marie Maskay and Ambassador of Germany Peter Felten, with whom he discussed the European perspective of Montenegro and opportunities for enhancement of bilateral cooperation at all levels.
The Prime Minister informed the ambassadors about the Government's intention to carefully consider all recommendations after receiving the Country Report and define an Action Plan in order to start concrete activities towards implementation of the recommendations as soon as possible.
Italian Ambassador Andreina Marsella congratulated the Government on its election, emphasizing that Italy supports Montenegro on its European path, as well as the expectation that the traditionally good bilateral relations be enhanced in terms of strengthening economic cooperation. In this context, the visit of the business delegation of Italy to Montenegro was announced.
Prime Minister Spajić and French Ambassador Anne-Marie Maskay discussed the opening of the Regional Cyber Security Centre, which is planned for the spring of 2024, and the possibilities for cooperation in the fields of tourism, energy and defense. Ambassador Maskay wished success to the 44th Government and expressed France's readiness to support Montenegro's aspirations at the expert and other levels, which will be aimed at reaching European standards in all areas.
At the meeting with the Ambassador of Germany, Peter Felten, the topic of the discussion was the interest of German companies in investing in Montenegro, especially in the field of trade and energy.
The Government has zero tolerance for monopolies and corruption. Montenegro must be a 21st century economy that is open to credible investors with expertise and experience, Spajić pointed out.
Prime Minister told the ambassadors that on the foreign policy front, Montenegro would be a reliable NATO ally and a proactive future member of the European Union. "We are building bridges of cooperation for the European future of Montenegro," he concluded.
